Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Interact/greets center members and guests, support all programming at the center, and assist with home delivery meal services.
- Answer telephones and assist with calls.
- Recruit, supervise, and coordinate activities of volunteer workers, interns, and others who perform essential daily functions at the center.
- Create, maintain, and follow up with maintenance tickets through the NYCHA portal.
- Accept lunch deliveries, assist with meal service, and clean up afterwards.
- Supports the Director weekly in counting DFTA Breakfast, Lunch, Fundraising money, and deposits.
- Helps to coordinate special programs and events.
- Coordinate with community agencies to provide legal, public, mental health, social, and other educational/recreational courses at the center.
- Participates in various internal Older Adult Center subcommittees (menu committee/fundraising, etc.).
- Assists with fliers, newsletters, bulletin boards, etc.
- Conduct client registration and create new membership ID cards.
- Aid in fundraising activities, including receipts and spreadsheets.
- Aid in documentation and input into the program database.
- Maintain monthly recreational log.
- Aid in and maintain all required documentation of the fundraising receipts and expenses.
- Create Purchase orders for supply needs through our Yardi system.
- Aid in Information & Referral.
- Plan and/or lead recreational/educational trips or events.
COMPETENCIES
- CPR/AED certification preferred (must be obtained within 6 months of hire)
- Food Handler certification preferred (must be obtained within 6 months of hire)
- Some knowledge of and a genuine concern for the physical, mental, and emotional needs of older persons
- Computer skills required, with ability to learn database maintenance
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Ability to work independently

- Ability to understand the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities
- Commitment to supporting communities who have experienced systemic oppression and bias (e.g., people of color, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, justice-involved persons, etc.)
Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent, and specialized training or skills in recreational activities or two years of experience in a community, group work, or teacher environment
