About the role

This position is located in Flagstaff Corps and is full-time/non-exempt.

Responsibilities

  • Pick up and sort mail, manage local direct mail responsibilities, and assist with general administrative duties such as mailings, Sunday programs, fliers, etc.
  • Manage the corps office, handle phone calls, complete reports, maintain files, and coordinate supply needs.
  • Accept and sign for deliveries, manage incoming calls, and compose and type correspondence and emails.
  • Prepare and submit accounts payable for officer's approval, keep up-to-date files on service calls, and manage the corps calendar for programs and staff vacations.
  • Attend and compose minutes for staff, corps, Advisory Board, and other administrative meetings, assist with Advisory Board preparation, and recruit, process, and manage volunteers.
  • Absorb and distribute minutes for staff, corps, Advisory Board, and other administrative meetings, assist with recruiting, processing, and managing volunteers, and assist with coordinating community events.
  • Receive monetary and Gifts in Kind donations, issue receipts, and file appropriately, prepare and submit accounts payable for officer's approval, and assist with deposits.
  • Handle all social service calls, ensure the cleanliness and organization of the food room, basement, waiting room, and office, and properly record and file casework documentation.
  • Prepare and submit required reports and statistics, identify and apply for grants, and maintain updated files.
  • Represent The Salvation Army in informational opportunities or forums, attend seminars to enhance skills, and coordinate holiday efforts like Back to School, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.
  • Coordinate food drives for seasonal and daily use, develop programs and activities that meet congregation and community needs, and work with businesses, churches, and other organizations to secure donations.
  • Maintain the spiritual aspect of social services, work with corps officers for all other needs, and assist with overall program support.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED equivalent required, BA degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous secretarial or social service experience required.
  • Ability to prioritize work, multitask, work under pressure, and be self-starting.
  • Valid AZ Driver License and clear MVD record.
  • Respect for other employees, associates, clients, and The Salvation Army's goals and objectives.
  • Experience with computers and knowledge of Salvation Army programs/software.
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized and clean office environment.
  • Service-minded team player who can pass or have the ability to pass a Salvation Army fleet driving test and a criminal background check.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma/GED equivalent required, BA degree or equivalent preferred.
