Job Summary

Performs the necessary tasks as required of an administrative assistant for the general operations and staff at Baker Technical Institute. Employee must be able to perform tasks which involve organization, independent judgement with speed and accuracy, interpret and apply policies, laws, rules and regulations; learn policies; maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees, students, and strategic partners of Baker Technical Institute.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Backup support for operations in the registration process.
  • Assists students with enrollment and withdrawal of classes.
  • Maintains records of student information, including academic results, financial accounts, and class enrollment.
  • Provides support, assistance, technical advice, guidance and information to students, staff, and visitors.
  • Ensures service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.

General Duties: Student Services

  • Supports student services by providing backup support for the registration process.
  • Assists with managing records of student information.
  • Supports students with enrollment and withdrawal of classes.
  • Provides technical advice and guidance to students.

General Duties: Marketing

  • Aids in the development of marketing and merchandising materials.
  • Works with instructors, board members, staff and stakeholders to achieve brand goals.
  • Assists with event marketing and setup.

General Duties: Staff Support

  • Complies with district, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Takes telephone calls and provides requested information.
  • Assists with class registration and logistics.
  • Interacts with administrators, staff, and patrons.
  • Captures and maintains student files.
  • Coordinates and completes HECC required compliance and reporting duties.
  • Maintains confidentiality in all areas.
  • Assists staff with purchases, travel, etc.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED or higher.
  • Prior administrative, project management, and marketing experience strongly preferred.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Works well with others from diverse backgrounds.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal or diagram form.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in database software, internet software, and email.
  • Physical Demands: Regularly lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
