Isidore Newman School seeks a warm, competent, professional, and dynamic Administrative Assistant for the 2026-2027 academic year. The role of the Administrative Assistant is multifaceted. Performing in a confidential setting, the Lower School divisional assistant reports to the Head of Lower School and supports both the Head and Assistant Head of Lower School, as well as the division at large (faculty, students, and parents). The most qualified applicants will be organized, timely, and detail-oriented with exceptional administrative, communication and people skills, as well as a desire to work with children. The administrative assistant in the Lower School is an anticipatory thinker who enjoys acting in a support role in a division that values collaboration. The successful applicant will possess excellent speaking, writing, and interpersonal skills; demonstrate strong organizational and multitasking abilities; be technologically savvy and computer literate; have an abiding interest in supporting the daily operations of a school community; be successful in working with teams; be willing to contribute to school activities beyond assigned duties; possess a strong understanding of the needs of the department or office they support; and genuinely enjoy working with students, families, faculty, and staff. The Most Important Qualifications Include A high school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred3+ years of experience in an administrative, office management, or related support roleProficiency with office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace) and familiarity with school information systems (e.g., Blackbaud, PTCFast)Professional orientation toward collaboration and discretion with confidential informationA reflective practitioner, committed to a continuous process of self-improvement and professional growthEnthusiasm for supporting a school communityCultural competency demonstrating respect for diversity of identities and experiences and an orientation toward equity and inclusionA positive attitude, self-confidence, and effective oral and written communication skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentMust meet and maintain all federal, state, and local requirements to work in an educational setting Significant Responsibilities Include Provide administrative support to the Lower School, including scheduling, correspondence, and records managementServe as a welcoming first point of contact for students, families, faculty, staff, and visitorsTake responsibility for securing qualified substitute coverage when absences arise, following school procedures and communicating promptly with the appropriate personnel.Manage calendars, coordinate meetings, and support event logisticsMaintain accurate and organized files, attendance records, and databases in compliance with school policyProcess forms, requests, and communications in a timely and accurate mannerSupport budget tracking, purchasing, or invoice processing as neededCommunicate openly and effectively with parents, faculty, and staffAssist with the planning and execution of school events, traditions, and activitiesMaintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive informationContinue to grow professionally by accepting feedback, attending relevant training, and staying current on best practices in school administrationComplete other duties and responsibilities as assigned Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, updated resume, and names of three professional references.
