Administrative Assistant - Financial Aid
About the role
The Administrative Assistant serves as the first point of contact for financial aid-related inquiries, welcomes guests/visitors to the Financial Aid Office, receives in-person and telephone inquiries, and directs callers/visitors as appropriate. This position provides general administrative/clerical support to the Financial Aid team.
Responsibilities
- Receipt of records and documents
- Preparation of letters, financial aid forms, and other correspondence
- Maintains electronic records of important documents in a neat and organized manner
- Supervise work-study students as assigned
Requirements
- Associate degree in secretarial/office administration or equivalent required
- Three (3) years of administrative/secretarial support experience is required
- Professional work experience in the higher education setting is a plus
- A strong customer service focus is required, with the ability to effectively relay information via telephone and email communications
- Above average verbal, written, interpersonal and organizational skills required
- Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite required
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel desired
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize, multitask, maintain attention to detail orientation, and excel in a fast-paced, high volume office with little to no supervision is required
- The successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively with others, and also exercise independent thinking
- Should be able to foresee risks and anticipate needs, and make sound decisions
- Ability to quickly and efficiently learn software that is highly utilized within the Financial Aid space (PowerFAIDS, SAL-NET, Jenzabar, Slate, etc.) required
- Prior experience with these systems and federal and state financial aid programs is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality is required

Benefits
This is a full-time, 12-month, benefit-eligible position. While some flexibility in scheduling and the opportunity for periodic remote days exists, this position is on campus in Cresson, PA, and is not eligible for remote work.
