Maintaining Departmental Standards
Maintains departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
Building Relationships
Cultivates good relations with patients, medical staff, laboratory peers, other hospital departments, and facilities that utilize services.
Customer Service
- Answers telephones, routes callers, takes messages, and provides routine information to callers.
- Establishes and maintains files and records, retrieving data in a timely manner.
Outpatient Collections
- Coordinates outpatient collections efficiently.
Ordering and Reporting
- Accepts and properly orders Physician Orders into LIS and maintains Physician Standing Orders.
- Affixes patient reports to physicians’ offices and other healthcare agencies via mail or fax and nursing care areas.
Client and Insurance Information
- Understands clients and related insurance information concerning Admissions Module.
Reference Lab Records
- Reverts to manual system if LIS is down to ensure continuity.
Office Supplies
- Sorts and distributes incoming mail promptly.
- Affixes departmental office supply orders to ensure adequate inventory.
Additional Duties
- Affixes other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must have the knowledge and skills necessary to address age appropriate considerations relating to the communication and safety needs of the patient populations served within the department.
- Education: High School Grad or Equiv.
- Field Of Study: N/A
- Work Experience: 2+ general office experience and medical terminology.
