About the role

The College of the Desert, Desert Community College District, enrolls approximately 20,000 students annually with steady growth. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement instruction for each class/lab period consistent with the official course outline.
  • Evaluate students' progress towards meeting course objectives.
  • Return assignments and examination results in a timely manner.
  • Assign grades in accordance with District policy and administrative procedures.
  • Participate in the credit by examination program where applicable.
  • Advise enrolled students on learning skills, career alternatives, and related services.
  • Participate in advisory committee meetings as required.
  • Contribute to the academic community through committee work on the department division, college, and district levels.

Requirements

The minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience, or an associate degree and six years of professional experience, with direct relevance to the teaching assignment. Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students is also required.

Qualifications

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. and must provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment.

Skills

Proficiency in using technology for teaching and learning, ability to work collaboratively, and strong communication skills are essential.

Pay

Salary placement is according to the College of the Desert Adjunct Association (CODAA) Collective Bargaining Agreement.
