U.S. Citizenship is required for this position. Salary range: $63,000.00 to $79,000.00. The anticipated salary range represents the estimated base pay for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors, and may vary from the posted range.

About the Role

Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) is seeking an Administrative Generalist to join our team to support selected administrative functions related to the onboarding of new employees and processing of internal transfers. This position is multi-faceted and handles new hire, internal transfer, and leased labor documents and verifications, as well as scheduling travel for candidates.

The environment is very fast-paced, so the ability to multi-task will be important as you review system entries for accuracy and act as the final approver for personnel file documents. Attention to detail and ensuring adherence to established processing guidelines is critical. The candidate experience is important to us, so we are looking for a positive communicator to ensure lines of communication are open and responses are timely.

Represents organizational unit on administrative matters. Recommends, interprets, and/or implements company and internal administrative policies and procedures. Performs as a generalist a combination of administrative tasks in such functional areas as finance, human resources, purchasing, research, and development. May prepare budgeting, project scheduling, and statistical reports as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant exempt experience
  • Master’s Degree and 1 year of relevant professional experience

One of the following may be used as equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

  • NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • Associate's Degree or other formal 2-year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
  • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience, or other relevant exempt experience
  • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience, or other relevant non-exempt experience
