ADMINISTRATION GENERALIST 2
U.S. Citizenship is required for this position. This is a full-time, 1st shift role with no relocation assistance available and no telework eligibility.
About the Role
Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) is seeking an Administrative Generalist to support selected administrative functions related to the onboarding of new employees and processing of internal transfers. This multi-faceted position handles new hire, internal transfer, and leased labor documents and verifications, as well as scheduling travel for candidates.
The environment is fast-paced, requiring the ability to multi-task while reviewing system entries for accuracy and acting as the final approver for personnel file documents. Attention to detail and adherence to established processing guidelines are critical. The candidate experience is a priority, so strong communication skills are essential to ensure open lines of communication and timely responses.
This role involves developing connections with candidates and stakeholders to efficiently achieve team goals. Collaboration, a sense of urgency, responsiveness, and critical thinking are key to success in this team-oriented setting.
Responsibilities include representing the organizational unit on administrative matters, recommending and interpreting company policies, and performing generalist tasks across functional areas such as finance, human resources, purchasing, and research and development. Additional duties may include preparing budgeting, project scheduling, and statistical reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of relevant exempt experience; or
- Master’s Degree and 1 year of relevant professional experience; or one of the following equivalents:
- NNS Apprentice School graduate
- Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
- Associate’s Degree or other formal 2-year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
- Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
- High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience, or other relevant exempt experience
- High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience, or other relevant non-exempt experience
Pay
The anticipated salary range for this role is $63,000.00 to $79,000.00. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
