Job Summary
The Indian River State College is seeking an Adjunct Instructor in Theatre Arts to teach dynamic, high-quality courses in a student-centered environment.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Instruct assigned classes; grade quizzes, tests, and written assignments.
- Assign midterm and final grades and deliver grades and grade justification sheets.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to meet with students.
- Foster a safe and effective classroom environment.
- Adhere to all adjunct faculty training and procedural guidelines as expressed by college administration.
- Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Masters or doctorate degree from a regionally accredited institution in Theatre Arts / Performing Arts, or a Masters or doctorate degree in a related field with 18 graduate hours in Theatre Arts / Performing Arts.
- High school and/or college level theatre teaching experience.
- Knowledge and experience in acting terminology/techniques and theatre history.
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
- Proven teaching skills with the ability to convey basic concepts and theories in a practical and comprehensible way.
- Computer literacy and experience using a computer in courses, with a willingness to apply technology and innovative approaches to teaching.
- Meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools (SACS).
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
- Walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds.
- Manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.
