About the role
The Humanities and Arts Department at Worcester Polytechnic Institute is regularly seeking part-time adjunct faculty to teach Theatre courses and practicums. In addition to participating in department productions, theatre faculty teach introductory courses, intermediate thematic seminars, and practicums.
Responsibilities
- Teach introductory courses, intermediate thematic seminars, and practicums
- Participate in department productions
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the theatre curriculum
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the educational experience for students
Requirements
- Hold a terminal degree in theatre or a related field
- Professional and collegiate directing, acting, design, or technical credits
- Strong connections to current scholarship and artistic trends in theater and live performance
- Teaching excellence and versatility
- Ability to adapt to an existing curriculum with creative and critical pedagogical approaches
Qualifications
- Submit a cover letter addressing relevant expertise and experience
- Submit a current CV including the names and contact information for three references
- Provide evidence of teaching experience (syllabi, teaching portfolio, etc.)
Skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Effective time management and organizational skills
Benefits
Compensation: $6,000 per course
