Job Summary
Provide classroom instruction in a variety of art courses including but not limited to: Art history courses—such as Art of Japan, Art of the Pacific, World Art History, Renaissance to Modern Art; and Studio Art—such as painting, drawing, design, photography, and sculpture.
Qualifications
- Commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
- Minimum Qualifications: Graduate degree in Art History, Fine Arts or related field, OR a bachelor’s degree and minimum five years professional field related experience. Previous successful college teaching experience. Demonstrated proficiency in the area of Art History or Studio Art.
- Desired Qualifications: Graduate degree in related field and minimum five years professional field related experience. Strong commitment to inclusivity and diversity, and ability to interact effectively with diverse cultures and ethnic groups. Ability to network with community organizations and programs to develop partnerships for the benefit of students, faculty, and the university. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions
- Develop syllabi in line with model syllabi, assigned textbooks, and department, college, and university policies (8%)
- Prepare individual classes; maintain records of student progress and assign grades (72%)
- Hold office hours and respond to student questions (1 hour/course)
- Participate in training sessions (3%)
- Perform other related duties as assigned (5%)
- Actively participates as an effective member of team by completing assigned duties, accepting additional assignments or reassignments.
