About the role
To develop in each student the skills of critical thinking and to help students learn the subject of Surveying presented to them in order for that student to become a positive member of the community. Online or face-to-face delivery modes.
Pay
$750.00 - $800.00 per credit hour
Schedule
Schedule varies depending on modality and day of courses assigned. Appointment length: 6 months or less.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Surveying, Geomatics or related field
- Significant, demonstrable tested experience in the field, approved by Chair, Dean, and VPAA
- Professional licenses
- Must have educational qualifications to teach in subject area or have documented specialty education/experience to meet tested-experience requirements, as per the Higher Learning Commission’s publication on Determining Qualified Faculty
- Provide leadership in an academic discipline and/or degree program
- Programs with discipline-specific external accreditation may have more stringent training and experience requirements
Qualifications
- Professional Surveyor (PS), Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or equivalent certification
- Master’s degree in related field (preferred)
Skills
- Teaching Competence – Create lesson plans, content, presentations, ancillary materials, and assignments to effectively transform information to knowledge for students; assess student learning and progress
- Communication skills – Communicate verbally and in writing with clear, grammatically correct English; interact with supervisors, colleagues, students using tact, discretion, and independent judgment
- Computer skills – Proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel), as well as e-mail and Internet
- Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU-OKC and OSU brand with positivity and professionalism
- Demonstrated history of ethical and professional behavior
Responsibilities
- Maintain student and course records with updates on the learning management system
- Maintain and file current course outlines, objectives and grading procedures for all courses
- Exhibit innovative and adaptive instructional methods
- Complete all mandatory training
- Fulfill all requirements as noted in the Adjunct Handbook
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Working Conditions
- Flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends
- Work performed in an office and classroom environment with significant public contact, in person, by telephone, via email, and various communication platforms
Physical Requirements
- Extended periods of sitting, talking and listening
- Extensive use of computers, telephones and other office equipment
- Possible lifting of up to 25 lbs. (objects over 45 lbs. require a two-person lift)
