About the Role

To develop in each student the skills of critical thinking and to help students learn the subject of Surveying presented to them in order for that student to become a positive member of the community. Delivery modes include online or face-to-face.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Surveying, Geomatics or related field
• Significant, demonstrable tested experience in the field, approved by Chair, Dean, and VPAA
• Professional licenses
• Educational qualifications to teach in subject area or documented specialty education/experience to meet tested experience requirements, as per the Higher Learning Commission’s publication on Determining Qualified Faculty
• Ability to provide leadership in an academic discipline and/or degree program (programs with discipline-specific external accreditation may have more stringent training and experience requirements)

Qualifications

• Professional Surveyor (PS), Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or equivalent certification
• Teaching competence: ability to create lesson plans, content, presentations, ancillary materials, and assignments to effectively transform information to knowledge for students; ability to assess student learning and progress
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with clear, grammatically correct English
• Demonstrable proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), email, and Internet
• Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU-OKC and OSU brand with positivity and professionalism
• Demonstrated history of ethical and professional behavior

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in related field

Responsibilities

• Maintain student and course records with updates on the learning management system
• Maintain and file current course outlines, objectives, and grading procedures for all courses
• Exhibit innovative and adaptive instructional methods
• Complete all mandatory training
• Fulfill all requirements as noted in the Adjunct Handbook
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Working Conditions

• Flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends
• Work performed in an office and classroom environment with significant public contact (in person, by telephone, email, and various communication platforms)

Physical Requirements

• Extended periods of sitting, talking, and listening
• Extensive use of computers, telephones, and other office equipment
• Possible lifting of up to 25 lbs (objects over 45 lbs require a two-person lift)
