Adjunct Instructor - Surveying Engineering
About the role
Adjunct Instructors needed to teach courses in the Surveying Engineering program. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis. The anticipated start date of this position is August 2026 at the earliest and January 2027 at the latest. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses or approved FSU sites. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and will perform duties at a Ferris site.
Responsibilities
- Teach Surveying Engineering courses for the College of Engineering Technology.
- Plan, deliver, and grade all course content and student work for assigned courses.
- Meet established course outcomes.
- Carry out responsibilities in accordance with university policies and applicable laws.
- Cultivate an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty, and staff to thrive authentically.
- Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
Requirements
- Demonstrated successful experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in a field or a closely related field OR Master's degree or higher level degree out-of-field with at least one bachelor's or associate's degree in the field OR Bachelor's degree in field
- The following combinations of education and relevant industry experience are directly related to the courses to be taught:
- Master's degree in a field or a closely related field and 5 years of relevant industry experience directly related to the courses to be taught
- Master's degree or higher level degree out-of-field with at least one bachelor's or associate's degree in the field and 7 years of relevant industry experience directly related to courses to be taught
- Bachelor's degree in the field and 10 years of relevant industry experience directly related to courses taught

Pay
Minimum of $1,353 per credit hour, if advanced degree held in primary academic discipline the minimum rate increases to $1,458 per credit hour. Salary commensurate with qualifications pursuant to the FSU and FNTFO/AFT agreement.
