Adjunct - School of Health Professions

About the role

Virginia Highlands Community College seeks qualified adjunct faculty to teach day and evening courses in various health-related disciplines. This position serves as part of a pool of applicants that may be utilized for future adjunct faculty positions.

Responsibilities

• Teach day and evening courses in health-related disciplines as per the college’s schedule.
• Assist in special assignments as directed by the administration.
• Participate in clinical adjunct faculty roles in Nursing and Practical Nursing, requiring specific educational and licensing requirements.

Requirements

• Minimum qualifications required by the accrediting agency in the discipline taught.
• For Health, Health Sciences, and Medical Assisting, credentials will be reviewed based on the discipline and course credentialing requirements.
• For Nursing and Practical Nursing, the required qualifications include a current license or multistate licensure privilege to practice nursing in Virginia as a registered nurse without any disciplinary action that restricts practice, and at least two years of direct client care experience as a registered nurse prior to employment.
• Clinical adjunct faculty in Nursing/Practical Nursing must hold either a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (BSN) or an associate degree in Nursing and be actively enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program.
