Position Summary
The Adjunct Faculty member in Health Sciences is responsible for providing high-quality instruction within the School of Nursing and Health Sciences across a variety of undergraduate and/or certificate-based courses. The faculty member supports student learning through classroom, laboratory, simulation, hybrid, and online instruction while promoting professional development, critical thinking, and interprofessional collaboration aligned with the institution's mission and values.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction in assigned Health Sciences courses in accordance with institutional and program objectives.
- Maintain course materials, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, and assessments.
- Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies to promote student engagement and success.
- Teach in classroom, laboratory, simulation, clinical, hybrid, and/or online learning environments as assigned.
- Evaluate student academic performance and provide timely feedback regarding progress.
- Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and course documentation in the learning management system.
- Support the integration of simulation, technology, and active learning methodologies when appropriate.
- Promote professional behavior, ethical practice, and patient-centered care principles.
- Participate in orientation, faculty meetings, curriculum discussions, and program activities as requested.
- Participate as part of the Health Sciences Council within the SONHS.
- Maintain compliance with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with administrators, faculty, staff, and clinical/community partners to support student learning experiences.
- Maintain current knowledge and competency within area(s) of expertise.
- Assist with laboratory preparation, skills validation, and student remediation as needed.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment for diverse student populations.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in related field (Health Sciences, Nursing, Public Health, EMS, Allied Health, Psychology, or Education).
- Bachelor’s degree with specialized clinical expertise may be considered based on course assignment.
- Certifications/Credentialing in specific field for designated courses where applicable.
- Current professional licensure, certification, or credentialing as appropriate to discipline. For clinical based courses, minimum of 2–3 years of clinical, healthcare, or related professional experience.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary academic environment.
- Proficiency with educational technology and learning management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in education and/or healthcare environment, or workforce development programs.
- Experience with simulation-based education or clinical instruction where applicable.
- Experience working with adult learners and diverse student populations.
- Familiarity with accreditation and regulatory standards related to healthcare education programs where applicable.
- Certifications such as BLS Instructor, ACLS, PALS, EMT/Paramedic, CNA Instructor, or specialty certifications related to assigned coursework.
