Job Summary

The School of Health and Natural Sciences at Mercy University invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Adjunct Faculty of Health Science. Adjunct faculty positions are available at both the Dobbs Ferry and Bronx campuses, supporting undergraduate programs in biology, clinical laboratory science, communication disorders, exercise science, nursing, occupational therapy assistant (AAS degree), and veterinary technology, as well as five accredited graduate health professional programs (communication disorders, occupational therapy, nursing, physical therapy, and physician assistant studies).

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Teach in the undergraduate health promotion concentration in health science; courses include global health, introduction to health promotion, health communication, epidemiology, etc.
  • Opportunities for teaching online health science courses may exist.
  • Work effectively in a dynamic team environment with strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate students within areas of expertise is preferred.
  • Commitment to working with a diverse population of undergraduate students.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills required.
  • Strong computer skills required, especially with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as BlackBoard and teleconferencing software like Zoom and BlackBoard Collaborate.
  • Experience teaching online is preferred.

Required Skills & Experience

  • MPH or MS in public health, health promotion, or related discipline, required.
  • Doctoral degree in public health, health promotion, or related discipline preferred, with CHES or MCHES certification preferred.

Physical/Other Requirements

  • Must be able to push, pull, move or lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to meet all general health requirements for the position as per university policies.

Employment Location

Mercy University promotes a community campus environment. Employment is limited to the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. Applicants outside of these states or the USA will be required to relocate. Relocation assistance may be provided for eligible moves.
