Adjunct Faculty - Health Sciences
About the role
This is a part-time position teaching laboratory sections for Chemistry for Health Sciences during the 2026-2027 academic year at Batten University. The course integrates lecture and laboratory components to explore basic and organic chemical processes relevant to biochemistry, focusing on atomic and molecular structures and their interactions with living systems.
Responsibilities
- Provide syllabi to students on the first day of class.
- Be on time and prepared for class sessions, providing feedback and returning assignments within a reasonable timeframe.
- Communicate with students via office hours and email.
- Submit mid-term reports, final grades, and C- reports according to University Registrar guidelines.
- Comply with FERPA regulations.
- Collaborate with Campus support services as needed to assist students.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry, or M.S. with 18 graduate hours in either field.
- Demonstrated teaching experience in college-level chemistry, particularly in chemistry for health sciences (for pre-nursing students).
- Willingness to learn and use Blackboard, the University Learning Management System.
- Strong communication skills.
Requirements
Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. and demonstrated experience in teaching college level chemistry, especially chemistry for health sciences (pre-nursing students). Candidates with an M.S. and 18 graduate hours in Chemistry or Biochemistry will also be considered.
Skills
Knowledge of Blackboard, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with students and campus support services are essential.
