Adjunct Professor, Respiratory Therapy
Brief Description of Duties
The University of the District of Columbia is a public land grant institution of higher learning dedicated to providing quality, career focused undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and credentials needed to launch, enhance, or change careers. The Department of Nursing, Allied Health, Life and Physical Science at the University of the District of Columbia Community College invites applications for an adjunct faculty position in the Respiratory Therapy Program at this HBCU in the Nation’s capital.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Teaches assigned courses as specified in respiratory therapy, including the lectures associated with clinical experiences
- Collaborates with the Program Director and DCE to assure adequacy of laboratory supplies and equipment
- Advises students and evaluate evidenced-based student learning outcomes
- Participates in department, college and university committees
- Assesses program effectiveness and assist in the curriculum development
- Sets up and maintains a minimum of five office hours per week using DataArc to record student's competencies and participation in lab/clinical
- Maintains close interactions among all students enrolled in the program
- Adheres to college and program policies and procedures
- Participates fully in curriculum development and revision
- Renders textbook and other instructional material recommendations
Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) from an accredited college/university;
- Applicant must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist who is licensed by the District of Columbia, or eligible
- Minimum of two years clinical experience
- Two years of academic or clinical teaching experience

Condition of Employment: Temporary employment may be ended at anytime with or without cause.
Collective Bargaining Unit: Dependent upon certain criteria, this position may be eligible for representation and require payment of union fees through direct payroll deduction.
Employment Benefits: Due to the temporary nature of this appointment, this position is ineligible for benefits.
