Major Responsibilities
- Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
- Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
- Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
- Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
- Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
- Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
- Serves as a role model who helps students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to provide high-quality respiratory care and positively impact the communities they serve.
- Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Possesses an earned associate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution and Academic preparation appropriate to the course(s) being taught,
- Is a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), and
- Holds an Indiana - licensed Respiratory Therapy Practitioner (RTP), and
- Has four years direct experience in Respiratory Therapy
Education, Experience and Other Requirements
- Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction and meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction.
- Conducts all activities with an appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity of people, styles, and views.
Retention and Student Success
- Provides academic-related coaching and academic monitoring to assigned student advisees in partnership with professional academic advising staff.
- Makes sure to monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including use of technology for academic advising alerts; provides necessary interventions to include communication with students, tutoring and other academic supports, and referrals to appropriate college resources.
- Maintains posted office hours and student engagement hours in accordance with campus expectations and the faculty loading policy in the Academic Support and Operations Manual (ASOM 7.2).
- Promotes and assists in student recruitment, retention, and successful completion of programs, including outreach to students by phone, technology tools, and other electronic means.
