About the role

Adjunct Faculty appointments are located on Parkland College's Campus in Champaign, Illinois and have a salary range of $1,406.00 - 1,586.00 per Equated Contact Hour (ECH) commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach part-time, advise and mentor students.
  • Provides classroom instruction in accordance with the stated philosophy, objectives, and established course outlines of the college.
  • Informs students of course regulations, evaluation procedures, and other information pertinent to the course; prepares a course syllabus for each course and distributes it early in each term.
  • Is available for student advising/mentoring.
  • Maintains regular office hours to ensure availability for student consultation; provides assistance to students in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate scholastic records of students; submits required reports on student progress according to published deadlines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the department chair.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care or a related field.
  • Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program.
  • Hold a valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential.
  • Current Illinois Respiratory Therapy license with current CPR certification.
  • Have a minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care.
  • Have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students of such programs.
  • Complete the CoARC Key Personnel Training Program.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in current computer technologies with the ability to learn the Parkland information system and new programs/systems as technology changes.
  • Is current in all professional credentials required to teach in area of discipline; meet essential qualifications to teach lecture, lab, and clinical in the discipline.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to engage professionally with a varied population of faculty, staff, students, and other members of the campus community.

Skills

  • Ability to comply with SURS return-to-work restrictions for employers (40 ILCS 5/15-139.5).
