Adjunct Instructor, School of Kinesiology and Nutrition

This is a part-time, semester-by-semester temporary appointment. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for visa sponsorship.

About the role

The School of Kinesiology and Nutrition at The University of Southern Mississippi is accepting applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor. Multiple opportunities across a variety of courses are available for applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

• Strength and conditioning (CSCS certification)/Weight Training
• Physical Education
• Sport Coaching (experience coaching individual or multiple sports)
• Nutrition and Dietetics
• Exercise Science
• Exercise Physiology
• Exercise Psychology
• Sports Psychology
• Fitness and Nutrition

Responsibilities

• Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate coursework in the School of Kinesiology and Nutrition.
• Maintaining course shells in Canvas for each course.
• Assessing student learning outcomes in assigned courses.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Kinesiology, Nutrition, or a closely related field.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively and collegially with students, staff, and faculty from diverse backgrounds, programs, and colleges.
• Expertise in the area for which they are applying.
• Ability to be flexible.
• Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, University policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Kinesiology, Nutrition, Dietetics, or a closely related field.
• Teaching experience in K-12 physical education.
• Coaching experience.
• Experience with learning management systems such as Canvas.
