Summary

The Department of Health and Life Sciences at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science (CDU) invites applications for an adjunct faculty position at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will have strong teaching expertise in Anatomy & Physiology, with a demonstrated record of teaching experience as a faculty member, teaching assistant, or supplemental instructor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Anatomy & Physiology
• Design, revise, and assess courses in alignment with CDU curricula, learning outcomes, and accreditation standards
• Employ inclusive, student-centered teaching strategies that support diverse learners
• Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and continuous quality improvement activities

Qualifications/Requirements

• Education: Master’s degree in biomedical sciences or a related STEM field. A PhD in the related field is preferred but not required.
• Experience: Meet competency requirement (experience in content area within the last five years). Minimum of 2-5 years of related teaching experience is desired. A record of successful teaching experience in undergraduate and graduate programs is preferred.
• Knowledge/Abilities/Skills: Commitment to student learning outcomes and evidence-based teaching practices. Knowledge of and interest in the university’s mission. Demonstrated sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and students with disabilities. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of computers and willingness to use multimedia instructional materials and computer-based educational platforms (smart board, WebCT/blackboard, Proctorio, university course management system PowerCampus). Strong computer knowledge and skills. Ability to work with a diverse group of students. Ability to establish and maintain a collegial working relationship with faculty and students. Ability to maintain safety in the laboratory setting. Knowledge of teaching and clinical practice in a related field. Demonstrate a willingness to perform and a commitment to extra-curricular responsibilities on behalf of the department, school, and University.
