About the role

The College of Integrated Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at Rock County is seeking one or more adjunct Mathematics instructors to teach courses in Fall 2026 and Spring 2027. Candidates available to teach 50% FTE or more may be considered for a salaried Lecturer title instead. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.

Responsibilities

Courses that are to be taught throughout the academic year will be from the following:

  • MAT 091 and MAT 095 – Elementary Algebra
  • MAT 103 - Beginning and Intermediate Algebra
  • MAT 108 – Quantitative Reasoning
  • MAT 110 – College Algebra
  • MAT 113 - Trigonometry
  • MAT 210 – Topics in Finite Mathematics
  • MAT 221 – Calculus and Analytic Geometry I

Requirements

Well-qualified candidates can expect pay of $1,667 per credit, with 15 credits being 1.0 Full-Time Equivalency. If a candidate is hired for more than a 50% FTE position, it will become salaried. This will be commensurate with the candidate's education, related experience, and qualifications.

UW System employees receive an excellent benefit package. Benefits eligibility will be dependent on course load as well as length of appointment.

Qualifications

  • A master's degree in mathematics
  • A master's degree in a related field and 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics
  • A master's degree in a related field and strong evidence of teaching mathematics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching developmental and lower-division college mathematics or co-requisite support courses
  • Experience using learning management software to deliver courses

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to interact respectfully with people with diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills

This will be commensurate with the candidate's education, related experience, and qualifications.

Pay

Schedule

This will be a fixed-term appointment. Reappointment for subsequent terms is dependent upon the needs of the University, funding, staffing requirements, enrollment, and external forces.
