Position Summary

The Department of Mathematics within the College of Arts and Sciences is searching for adjunct instructors for the following Main Campus courses in the Fall Semester of 2026:

  • Math 224 Analytic Geometry and Calculus III (4 credit hours)
  • Math 441 Introduction to Modern Abstract Algebra (3 credit hours)

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Follow guidelines for each course provided by the department.
  • Use syllabi and policy templates.
  • Develop and implement curriculum, inclusive of departmental learning objectives.
  • Develop and manage course materials using textbook provided by the department chair, use Blackboard Learning Management System, use MyMathLab (for Math 224 only).
  • Evaluate student work, administer tests and other assignments that permit measurement of knowledge, abilities, and/or performance relative to the course learning objectives.
  • Support student accommodations outlined by Office of Student Success, Disability Services.
  • Complete student record keeping in a timely and accurate manner, including grades and attendance.
  • Post grades as required by Registrar following procedures and policies.
  • Maintain timely communications with students and staff at all times.
  • Interact with students in a positive manner, listen effectively, field questions pertaining to subject matter.
  • Perform departmental assessment for SACSCOC.
  • Administer final exams according to university guidelines.
  • Exercise independent judgement and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including but not limited to: Title IX, Information Security including FERPA, and other state and federal regulations.
  • Exercise independent judgement and maintain strict confidentiality as necessary.
  • Able to work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.

Education/Experience

  • M.A. or M.S. in Mathematics, or a Master's degree in a related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in mathematics
  • Teaching experience at the college level preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Ability to teach mathematics within practices and guidelines of the department.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn, utilize, or adapt to new and emerging technology.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn Blackboard Learning Management System.
  • Ability to adapt to changing student needs.
  • Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with faculty, staff, students, university officials, and the public.
  • Exercise independent judgement and maintain strict confidentiality as necessary.
