About the role
This position is designated as a security sensitive position and requires a satisfactory criminal history background check. Males between the ages of 18 through 25 must be properly registered with the Selective Service System to be eligible for employment.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses in the approved discipline
- Provide instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses
- Mentor students inside and outside of the classroom
- Create and maintain an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned
- Engage in instructional preparation
- Provide timely feedback to students and respond to student communications in a timely manner
- Assess student performance; including submission of final grades in a timely fashion
- Maintain ethical and professional behavior
- Be available to students by appointment
- Attend adjunct faculty meetings
- Assess courses on departmental and institutional levels
- Complete any required training
Requirements
- Minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) credential standards which normally include an earned Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the teaching discipline
- A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems or related field with 18 graduate hours in Computer Science preferred
- Two (2) or more years non-teaching industry experience preferred
- Two (2) or more years teaching experience in Computer Basics and/or Business Computer Applications preferred
