About the role

The Department of Emergency Management and Disaster Science at the University of North Texas is accepting applications for adjunct instructors for the 2025-2026 academic year (Fall, Spring, and Summer).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver course content as well as provide quality instruction at the undergraduate level.
  • Teach courses that may include but are not limited to: Introduction to Emergency Management, Public Health and Disasters, Federal Government and Disasters, Continuity Planning for Crises, Hazardous Materials, International Disasters, and Terrorism and Emergency Management.
  • All of these courses are at the 3000 and 4000 course level.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in emergency management, disaster science, or closely related discipline and five years professional emergency management experience directly related to the assigned course(s).
  • Previous teaching experience at the university level is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience with HSI/MSIs and/or speaking Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba is welcomed.

Skills

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate level.
  • Knowledge of relevant emergency management and disaster science topics.

Benefits

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and discipline, in accordance with university guidelines and available funding.

Pay

FTE varies based on assignment.

Schedule

Driving University Vehicle No Security Sensitive. This is a Security Sensitive Position. Work Schedule varies based on assignment.
