About the role

The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is seeking an Emergency Management Coordinator/Instructor II to shape emergency readiness and train professionals across all phases of emergency management. This role involves teaching selected all-hazards courses, coordinating with local communities, and overseeing contract instructors.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement cutting-edge emergency management programs aligned with state and national standards and Department of Homeland Security guidelines.
  • Teach all-hazards courses and coordinate with local communities on training and exercises.
  • Evaluate and update course curriculum and exercises statewide.
  • Travel to various training locations throughout California, including weekends, to provide critical knowledge to communities in need.

Requirements

  • Experience working with all levels of government.
  • Knowledge of emergency management principles, practices, and training methodologies.
  • Ability to design, develop, and adapt curriculum and training materials.
  • Experience working with local jurisdictions, state agencies, and other stakeholders in preparedness, response, or recovery activities.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in emergency management, education, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in emergency management or related field.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass the DMV pull program.

Skills

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Proficiency with instructional technology and learning platforms.
