Adjunct- Head Club Ice Hockey Coach

About the Role

The Head Club Ice Hockey Coach provides ethical leadership in managing the hockey program, fostering a positive team environment, recruiting and retaining academically and athletically qualified student-athletes, and preparing student-athletes for success through planning, strategy development, and skill instruction.

Responsibilities

• Identify, recruit, and retain academically and athletically qualified student-athletes in accordance with university admissions standards and meet or exceed annual recruiting goals.
• Ensure commitment to the academic success of student-athletes by monitoring academic progress and attendance, and involving academic support resources when necessary.
• Foster a positive environment where student-athletes can learn, grow, and reach their potential; serve as a mentor, advisor, and positive role model.
• Maintain discipline and conduct of student-athletes to ensure adherence to community standards and codes of conduct.
• Maintain compliance with all university, Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC), and NCAA policies, rules, and regulations.
• Keep accurate records of financial transactions, including fundraising money collected from student-athletes and/or their families.
• Conduct regular meetings with student-athletes, assistant coaches, and administrators to foster a positive team environment.
• Work with the Coordinator of Equipment & Operations and the Director of Athletics on budget and purchasing planning to ensure a balanced budget annually.
• Perform additional administrative duties as assigned based on departmental needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
• Successful experience as a student-athlete and/or coach required; college head coaching experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with student-athletes, coaches, athletic trainers, and athletic administration.
• Commitment to being a good colleague and team player.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and team-building skills; ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to fostering a positive student-athlete experience with a focus on safety, health, and well-being.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
• Frequent travel is required.
