About the role

The Social Sciences Department at Texas A&M University-Central Texas is seeking applicants for a sociology adjunct instructor position. The successful candidate will be expected to teach an upper-level course in sociology. Areas of specialization are open, but we are especially interested in candidates who can teach at least one of the following topics: social inequalities, health and illness, media, political sociology, or the military.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches an undergraduate level class in sociology as needed.
  • Writes syllabi for the courses to be taught using the approved format of the College of Arts and Sciences.
  • Responds to student needs via email and with grading feedback in a timely manner.
  • Mets with students enrolled in their classes when students need additional assistance with class material and assignments.

Qualifications

  • Masters in sociology.
  • Experience in teaching in sociology.
  • Show expertise in and commitment to undergraduate sociology education.
  • Exhibit enthusiasm for undergraduate teaching and employing innovative teaching methods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Sociology or related field.

Pay

Commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Teaching assignments are on a semester-by-semester basis, which may include fall, spring and summer.
