About the role

Adjunct Faculty teach on a course-by-course basis throughout the academic year in the Sociology discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Teach up to seven semester credit hours (up to two courses) in Sociology; instruction may be on-campus, off-campus, or online, and may occur during the day and/or evening based on student demand and departmental needs.
  • Develop and manage the class syllabus to meet department and college standards.
  • Plan and create lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments.
  • Assess and grade students based on participation, performance, assignments, and examinations.
  • Assist and mentor students as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Sociology is required to teach undergraduate courses, OR a terminal degree in Sociology or a closely related field is required to teach graduate courses.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the subject area.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current relevant professional credentials.
  • College or university teaching experience.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence.
  • Prior relevant industry experience.
  • Online or hybrid teaching experience.
