About the role
Adjunct Faculty teach on a course-by-course basis throughout the academic year in the Sociology discipline.
Responsibilities
- Teach up to seven semester credit hours (up to two courses) in Sociology; instruction may be on-campus, off-campus, or online, and may occur during the day and/or evening based on student demand and departmental needs.
- Develop and manage the class syllabus to meet department and college standards.
- Plan and create lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments.
- Assess and grade students based on participation, performance, assignments, and examinations.
- Assist and mentor students as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Sociology is required to teach undergraduate courses, OR a terminal degree in Sociology or a closely related field is required to teach graduate courses.
- Demonstrated expertise in the subject area.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current relevant professional credentials.
- College or university teaching experience.
- Evidence of teaching excellence.
- Prior relevant industry experience.
- Online or hybrid teaching experience.
