About the role

The University of New Haven is searching for adjunct instructors in Sociology to begin in Fall 2026. The position supports the instructional needs of the Psychology and Sociology Department in teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Teach one or more courses in undergraduate sociology, including Introduction to Sociology

Requirements

  • At least a master's degree or Ph.D. in Sociology or a related discipline (e.g. Social Work)
  • At least one year of experience teaching college-level preferred

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with instructional technology
  • Familiarity with, or the ability to quickly adopt, the Canvas LMS

Skills

  • Ability to prepare courses with best pedagogical practice in mind

Pay

Adjunct instructors receive a letter of appointment for each semester in which they teach; they are paid on a per-course basis.

Schedule

Adjunct instructors teach no more than half of the full-time load.
