Adjunct Faculty - Public Health

About the role

Tarleton State University, a distinguished Doctoral National Comprehensive University, invites applications for the position of Adjunct Faculty of Public Health in the Department of Social Work and Public Health.

Responsibilities

• Teach online undergraduate and/or graduate Public Health courses as assigned.
• Design, prepare, and deliver course instruction in a fully online learning environment using the institution’s learning management system (Canvas).
• Develop and maintain course syllabi, instructional materials, assignments, and assessments aligned with course objectives and program standards.
• Facilitate an engaging online learning environment that supports student participation, interaction, and critical thinking.
• Maintain regular and timely communication with students in the online course environment.
• Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback on assignments and assessments.
• Monitor and document student progress, including grading, attendance (as applicable), and academic reporting requirements.
• Utilize instructional technologies and multimedia tools to support effective online teaching and student engagement.
• Provide virtual academic support to students, including scheduled online office hours and course-related guidance.
• Adhere to university policies, academic integrity standards, and applicable accreditation requirements.

Requirements

• Earned master’s degree in Public Health or a closely related field from an accredited university with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Public Health or the teaching discipline.
• Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate Public Health courses effectively.
• Effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to utilize instructional technologies and learning management systems such as Canvas, to support course delivery and student engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Earned doctorate/terminal degree (PhD, DrPH or a closely related field) from an accredited institution with graduate coursework appropriate to the teaching discipline.
• Previous teaching experience in higher education, particularly in online or hybrid instructional format.
• Professional experience in Public Health practice, healthcare systems, health administration, community health, or related areas.
• Experience using Canvas or similar learning management systems.
• Relevant professional certifications such as CHES/MCHES or CPH.
• Expertise in one or more areas of Public Health instruction.

Other Information

• Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary appointments, assigned per semester and on an as-needed basis. These temporary appointments are for the Academic Year 2026-2027 sub-terms.
