Purpose and Scope

The responsibility of the teaching faculty is to provide learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and the community. Adjunct faculty are hired on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the System.

Essential Job Functions

  • Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.
  • Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
  • Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
  • Ensure safety standards are met in accordance with the FAA, AABI, and institution requirements.
  • Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned.

Physical Abilities

  • The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items (up to 10 pounds), such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile; extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Requires the ability to give and receive detailed information through oral communication and to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word, including conveying detailed or important spoken instructions to others accurately, concisely, loudly or quickly.
  • No additional special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Work Schedule And Conditions

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment, and any specialized equipment standard within the discipline/industry.
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position.
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled classroom and/or lab environment with minimal exposure to safety hazards.
  • Hours will vary depending on class time; Instructors are required to meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instruction.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in any field.
  • Current FAA certifications of both Certified Flight Instructor Airplane and Certified Flight Instructor Instrument OR both Advanced Ground Instructor and Instrument Ground Instructor.
  • At least 3 years of nonteaching industry experience.

Salary

$69.74 per contact hour.
