About the role
The Daemen University Social Work and Sociology Department Program invites applications for part-time adjunct faculty positions to teach undergraduate- and graduate-level social work courses. Adjunct instructors are needed to teach in a variety of content areas across the MSW curriculum, including generalist and advanced social work practice, human behavior in the social environment, social policy, and research methods. Opportunities to provide elective courses on various populations, issues, or treatment modalities, as well as supervision to students in field practicums are also available. Courses may be offered in-person, online, or in hybrid formats, depending on department needs.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality instruction in alignment with Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) competencies and program learning outcomes;
- Deliver course content in accordance with provided master syllabi and departmental standards;
- Facilitate class discussions, experiential learning activities, and student engagement;
- Maintain regular communication with students and respond to inquiries within a reasonable timeframe;
- Identify students in need of academic and/or other supports;
- Evaluate and provide timely, constructive feedback on student performance;
- Submit grades and required documentation in accordance with university policies;
- Collaborate with administrators and faculty to ensure academic consistency and quality.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a CSWE-accredited program, Minimum of two years post-MSW professional experience, Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas of social work education, Commitment to culturally responsive, anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and evidence-informed teaching practices, Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Preferred Qualifications: Licensure (LMSW, LCSW) in applicable jurisdiction, Doctorate in social work or a related field (e.g., DSW, PhD), Prior teaching experience in higher education, particularly in graduate-level social work programs, Experience with online teaching and learning platforms (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, Zoom), Experience with diverse student populations including first generation students a plus
Pay
- $3000 per course for Undergraduate Faculty
- $3500 per course for Graduate Faculty
