Adjunct Faculty Pool - Engineering
Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education serving Central Virginia, including the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson. As part of the 23-college Virginia Community College System, PVCC is nationally recognized for its transfer curriculum, partnership with the University of Virginia, and Workforce Development Programs.
About the role
PVCC is seeking qualified adjunct faculty members to teach engineering courses on a course-by-course, semester basis. Positions are appointed as needed and may include teaching developmental and/or college-level courses, including distance-learning courses. Instruction may occur during the day, evening, on weekdays, or weekends, primarily face-to-face with the possibility of remote instruction.
Responsibilities
- Teach engineering courses at the developmental and/or college level.
- Deliver instruction in various formats, including face-to-face and remote learning.
- Teach courses during the day, evening, on weekdays, and weekends as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting during emergency declarations by the Governor.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in an engineering field (minimum requirement).
- Expert skills, knowledge, and experience in the subject area.
- History of successful teaching or related experience.
- Preferred: Two years of teaching experience, work experience in the field, and experience with online teaching.
Pay
$819–$1,693 per credit hour, based on experience and rank upon hire.
Schedule
Adjunct faculty positions are appointed on a course-by-course, semester basis as needed. Travel to and from any college campus or site location may be required.
