About the Role
Colorado Mountain College adjunct faculty members assist students in their learning process by utilizing all available resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies. The college seeks innovative facilitators of learning who are active in the art of teaching and passionate about extending academic opportunities to all students. While teaching is the primary role, faculty are also expected to engage in scholarly endeavors and service activities to support student success.
CMC focuses on excellence in teaching and learning in diverse classroom settings and programs, offering associate and bachelor’s degrees. Successful candidates will demonstrate a passion for dynamic classroom experiences, excellent academic opportunities, and student support.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a master’s degree in the specific field for the position or a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate credits in a related field (e.g., for business: business, finance, management, marketing, or related fields).
- Minimum of one-year full-time teaching experience or equivalent adjunct teaching experience; higher education teaching experience preferred.
- An equivalent/applicable combination of education and experience to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.
Skills
- Knowledge of pedagogy and at least two years of teaching experience.
- Strong background in computers and technology.
- Excellent organizational, general office, and communication skills.
- Customer-oriented with attention to detail.
- Ability to research, analyze data, and work independently toward established goals and deadlines.
- Willingness to learn and adapt.
Responsibilities
- Teach assigned course load and evaluate courses to assess student learning.
- Meet established course, program, and learning outcomes; comply with college guidelines and policies.
- Maintain office hours per established standards and develop rapport with students.
- Assist with advising, orientation, and registration activities.
- Engage in scholarly and creative activities to enhance discipline expertise and learning.
- Participate in service activities, including campus and college committees, projects, mentoring peers, assessment activities, program review, student organizations, recruiting, and retention.
- Prepare lesson plans, course outlines, and syllabi in accordance with approved objectives.
- Develop measurable course objectives and maintain accurate student records.
- Be available for student consultation and assist in student recruitment as appropriate.
- Represent the college professionally and promote a positive public image.
- Engage in professional development as required for credentialing.
- May supervise student employees.
Special Conditions of Employment
- Successful completion of a background check and motor vehicle records report (when applicable).
- Adherence to all safety and compliance policies of Colorado Mountain College.
- May require travel and evening and/or weekend hours.
Working Conditions
- Constant sitting; occasional walking, standing, and driving.
- Occasional handling of objects, pushing/pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent reaching with hands/arms and use of finger movements.
- Constant written and oral communication; occasional reasoning, analyzing, and performing calculations.
- Daily use of a computer and standard office equipment; occasional driving.
