Christopher Newport University’s College of Arts & Humanities seeks adjunct faculty to teach individual courses, as needed, in the following areas: Arabic, Chinese, Classical Studies, French, German, Latin, and Spanish.
About the Role
The Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures (MCLL) is a team of 17 scholar-teachers committed to undergraduate education and professional growth. The department offers instruction in ancient Greek, Latin, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, and Spanish, along with courses in English on the ancient and modern worlds. Programs include five majors, four interdisciplinary minors, and MAT degrees in Spanish and ESL. MCLL supports study abroad opportunities and mentors students on independent research projects.
Requirements
- Earned graduate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited university in a relevant discipline
- 18 completed semester hours of related graduate coursework
- Demonstrated ability for excellent teaching
- Official transcripts required at the time of hire
Pay
Adjunct pay ranges from $1,414 (Instructor rank) to $1,626 (Professor rank) per Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE). New rates for the 2026–2027 academic year are subject to change.
