Adjunct Faculty - French

Position Summary

Mount Mary University invites applications for a part-time Adjunct Instructor of French to teach first-year composition and related writing courses.

About the role

The successful candidate will teach one or more sections of first-year writing as part of a cohorted model. Adjunct faculty are expected to provide high-quality instruction, maintain regular communication with students, assess student learning effectively, and collaborate with department faculty to support student success and the mission of Mount Mary University.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality instruction to students
• Effectively assess student learning
• Maintain regular communication with students using both email and Mount Mary University's LMS
• Collaborate with department faculty to support student success and the mission of Mount Mary University
• Participate in group assessment for the composition program

Skills And Experience

• Familiarity with current composition pedagogy and student-centered pedagogy
• Experience working with students from a wide range of backgrounds, including first-generation college students, multilingual writers, and students from historically underrepresented communities
• Demonstrated commitment to promoting inclusiveness and cultural competence
• Experience and understanding of current issues and developments in higher education
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

• A master's degree in French
• College-level teaching experience is preferred
