Adjunct Faculty – Master of Public Health (MPH) Program

Job Description Position Summary: The Master of Public Health (MPH) Program at Long Island University seeks a qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach MPH 740: Program Planning and Evaluation during the Fall 2026 semester. The successful candidate will possess expertise in public health program planning, implementation, and evaluation, with the ability to teach graduate students using current evidence-based practices and applied public health frameworks. The instructor will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging course content; preparing a syllabus that outlines course objectives, learning outcomes, instructional methods, assignments, and grading policies; maintaining the course in Brightspace; conducting weekly class sessions either in person or synchronously via Microsoft Teams in accordance with the program schedule; maintaining regular office hours to provide academic support and mentoring to students; and fulfilling all University responsibilities related to grading, attendance, and academic policies. Faculty are expected to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment that promotes critical thinking, evidence-based decision making, ethical reasoning, effective communication, and the application of public health principles to contemporary health challenge. Required Qualifications Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or DrPH) in Public Health or a closely related discipline. Demonstrated expertise in public health program planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Evidence of successful graduate-level teaching or training experience. Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and student learning. Evidence of continued professional growth and scholarly or professional engagement in public health. Relevant public health practice experience in government, healthcare, nonprofit organizations, academia, or related settings. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to integrate theory, evidence, policy, and professional practice into graduate instruction. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching in a face-to-face environment. Experience with Brightspace or comparable learning management systems. Professional experience working with public health agencies, healthcare systems, community organizations, or governmental organizations. Experience with accreditation standards, competency-based education, and applied public health practice. Demonstrated commitment to inclusive, equitable, and student-centered teaching practices. Responsibilities Teach MPH 740: Program Planning and Evaluation in accordance with the approved course description and MPH Program competency-based student learning outcomes. Prepare and submit a course syllabus that aligns with program requirements, University policies, and accreditation standards. Develop lectures, learning activities, assignments, and assessments that promote critical thinking and application of program planning and evaluation concepts. Maintain an organized and up-to-date Brightspace course site. Meet all scheduled classes and adhere to the University's academic calendar, including final examination and grading deadlines. Maintain regular communication with students and provide weekly office hours. Submit attendance, grades, and other required reports according to University deadlines. Participate in program meetings, assessment activities, accreditation initiatives, and curriculum discussions when requested.
