Position Summary
The Adjunct Faculty in Massage Therapy (Modality Position) will teach in-person, modality-specific massage therapy courses at the Southlake Campus in Vernon Hills.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach assigned modality-focused massage therapy courses.
- Prepare and deliver lectures, labs, and instructional materials.
- Assess student learning outcomes and assign grades.
- Maintain accurate course and grade records.
- Provide timely feedback and academic support to students.
- Stay current in the discipline through continued education and professional involvement.
- Attend required adjunct faculty meetings each semester.
- Follow all college policies, including Title IX and Clery Act compliance.
- Rewrite and update curriculum content as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Massage Therapy, Preventive Health, Wellness, Exercise Science, or a related field and one year of tested experience; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in any field and two years of tested experience; OR
- Associate degree and two years of tested experience.
- For Modality Classes Only: Must hold a current Illinois Massage Therapy License or a certification/license in the modality being taught.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous college-level teaching experience.
- Five or more years of professional massage therapy experience in diverse settings.
- Experience using Canvas or similar course management systems.
- Certification or training in evidence-based, student-centered pedagogy (e.g., ACUE, professional workshops).
Compensation
- Per Load Hour Pay: 2024–2025: $1,323
2025–2026: $1,373
2026–2027: $1,414
