Adjunct Faculty – Health Information Management & Technology

Responsibilities

  • Develops and teaches classroom courses to undergraduate students in the Health Information Management & Technology program.
  • Teaches using multiple formats such as in-person, online, or blended.
  • Develops a course outline, instructional materials, and assessments for approval by program director and/or Dean.
  • Provides an approved syllabus that includes course objectives, learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies, texts and readings, assignments, timelines, and evaluation criteria.
  • Ensures course content aligns with current industry standards, accreditation requirements, and program learning outcomes.
  • Provides engaging assignments that demonstrate real-world applications of concepts covered.
  • Posts syllabus, assignments, and other materials on the University’s learning management system and communicates with students.
  • Offers advising and assistance through office hours, scheduled appointments, videoconference, phone, email, and other approved mechanisms.
  • Engages in service activities including student mentoring and ongoing course development.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Health Information Management or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Health Information Management or related field.
  • Experience teaching at the college level preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant healthcare regulations and compliance standards.
  • Ability to teach in multiple formats including in-person, online, and blended.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
