Adjunct Faculty position at Austin Community College, a public two-year institution serving a multicultural population of approximately 41,000 credit students each Fall and Spring semester. About the Role

The Health Information Technology program at Austin Community College seeks adjunct faculty to prepare and deliver coursework in engaging, innovative, and discipline-appropriate ways. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and teach courses in Health Information Management based on department-approved course learning outcomes, utilizing instructional strategies appropriate for community college students.
  • Participate in departmental responsibilities, including curriculum review, program review, and assessment of student learning outcomes at the course and program level.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback reflecting program learning outcomes and departmental expectations.
  • Serve as a mentor to students in the Health Information Technology program.
  • Provide teaching and mentoring services without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, age, protected veteran status, political affiliation, or other protected categories.
  • Remain current in the field through professional development activities.
  • Support division and department goals through active engagement in decision-making and unit-level planning.
  • Serve on collegewide and departmental committees, councils, work groups, and task forces.
  • Recruit students at job fairs, open houses, continuing education events, and in the Central Texas area.
  • Demonstrate proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and technologies for the classroom, including an online learning management system (e.g., Blackboard), 3M Encoder, and EHR Go.
  • Comply with professional standards for faculty, including meeting deadlines for attendance certification and final grade submission, maintaining regular office hours, and participating in college functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management, or
  • Bachelor of Science in Medical Record Administration, or
  • Associate in Health Information Technology.
  • Three (3) years of professional work experience.
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using an online learning management system (e.g., Blackboard), 3M Encoder, and EHR Go.

Working Conditions
