Stella and Charles Guttman Community College at City University of New York (CUNY) is seeking adjunct faculty to teach online courses in Health Information Technology for the Fall II Session: January 4, 2027 – February 24, 2027.

About the role

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to use effective pedagogical and technology-based strategies that enable the success of all students. Adjunct faculty will teach and provide guidance for the following courses:

  • Introduction to HIT
  • Legal and Ethical Aspects of Healthcare
  • Medical Terminology
  • Quality Assessment and Statistics
  • Principles of Healthcare Reimbursement
  • Introduction to CPT/HCPCS Coding
  • Clinical Classification Systems: ICD-10-CM/PCS Coding

Qualifications

For Adjunct Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor:

  • Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent
  • Master’s degree in Health Information Management, Health Care Management, Health Informatics & Analytics, or related field
  • AHIMA Credential; ACTIVE RHIT or RHIS credential
  • Ability to teach online successfully

For Adjunct Lecturer:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Health Care Administration, Health Informatics, or related field
  • AHIMA Credential; ACTIVE RHIT or RHIS credential
  • Ability to teach online successfully

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching and/or work expertise in Health Information Management, Health Care Administration, Health Informatics, or related fields
  • Experience teaching in a community college
  • Demonstrated ability in most of the following:
    • Teaching students of diverse racial, ethnic, linguistic, and educational backgrounds
    • Active, student-centered pedagogy and significant student mentoring experience
    • Use of effective technology-based strategies that enable the success of all students, including Brightspace and Navigate360

Pay

  • Adjunct Lecturer: $116.44 per hour
  • Adjunct Assistant Professor: $125.06 per hour
  • Adjunct Associate Professor: $133.69 per hour
  • Adjunct Professor: $142.31 per hour
