The Harper College Health Careers Division prepares students for careers in various health settings, including hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and community-based organizations. The CAHIIM-accredited Health Information Technology (HIT) program equips diverse, active learners with the technical, collaborative, and communication skills needed to become entry-level health information professionals.

About the role

This position is open to applicants who wish to teach online courses in the Health Information Technology program. Occasional meetings on campus in Palatine, IL are required for ongoing education and program planning with faculty, staff, and HIT program stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Teach online courses in Health Information Technology
  • Participate in ongoing education and program planning with faculty, staff, and HIT program stakeholders
  • Occasional meetings on campus in Palatine, IL

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Informatics, or related field
  • Experience in healthcare information systems and technologies
  • Ability to teach online courses effectively
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Qualifications

  • Passing score on the CPHI exam (Certified Professional in Healthcare Information)
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems

Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
