Adjunct Faculty- Developmental English

About the role

Waubonsee Community College invites applications for a part-time instructor position for Developmental English (Integrated Reading and Writing) courses. Adjunct Faculty are tasked with providing high-quality instruction and assessing student learning through both formative and summative methods.

Responsibilities

• Prepare course syllabi and design lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments tailored to different learning styles, ensuring that students meet course objectives and outcomes.
• Incorporate learner-centered principles and motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational experience.
• Evaluate student performance and maintain timely and accurate records, including attendance verifications, academic progress, and final course grades.
• Collaborate effectively with students and colleagues, and work constructively with individuals from diverse cultures, gender identities, language groups, and abilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in English, English Education or Reading from an accredited college required.
• Competency in technologies commonly used in college level instruction (canvas & zoom).
• Experience teaching face-to-face, hybrid, and online.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in English, English Education or Reading preferred.
• Experience teaching Developmental English at a community college or university preferred.
• Experience with ELL students a plus.

Skills

• Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to effectively utilize instructional and classroom technology to enhance teaching and learning.

Pay

Minimum Starting Rate: $3,363.00 - $3,363.00
