Adjunct Faculty, Developmental English

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility is to plan, develop and teach courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning. Specific duties include:

• Teaching Developmental English courses at a variety of times and locations
• Creating engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material
• Submitting required college reports and forms in a timely manner
• Utilizing a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
• Meeting with and advising students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods
• Evaluating students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and informing students in a timely manner of their progress
• Maintaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
• Attending meetings, trainings, and orientations as required

Requirements

Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree with a major or minor in English, literature, creative writing or in a related field such as education, reading, writing, linguistics, or language arts; or a Master's degree in English, literature, creative writing or in a related field such as education, reading, writing, linguistics, or language arts; or a Bachelor's degree with related teaching or training experience in one or more of the above mentioned fields.

• Demonstrates interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies including collaborative learning, learning communities and distance learning

Pay

The salary is $56.55 per contact hour.

Schedule

Hours will vary depending on class time; Instructors are required to meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instruction.
