Adjunct - CNHP - Creative Arts Therapy

About the Role

Drexel University’s College of Nursing & Health Professions is the largest producer of Creative Arts Therapists in Pennsylvania. The department is accepting applications for future Adjunct CAT Faculty positions on a continuous basis, reviewed by the Department Chair when openings become available. Adjunct positions are on a quarter-by-quarter basis (Drexel’s academic year includes four ten-week terms/quarters). Applications are being accepted for six general areas:

• Core (Counseling) Masters program courses
• Art Therapy and Counseling courses
• Dance/Movement Therapy courses
• Music Therapy and Counseling courses
• PhD in Creative Arts Therapies program
• Undergraduate elective courses related to the creative arts therapies

Responsibilities

• Teach required number of credit hours per quarter based on contract.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills related to teaching adults, teaching methodology, curriculum development, and student evaluation, including practices consistent with inclusive and equitable teaching principles.
• Participate in the design, implementation, and evaluation of the course syllabus.
• Plan and provide theoretical instruction and clinical or studio/lab experiences that reflect the philosophy, objectives, and curriculum of the Department of Creative Arts Therapies.
• Evaluate student achievement of curricular objectives/outcomes.
• Schedule regular office hours per week for student availability, if applicable.
• Schedule administrative time for course preparation and timely assessment of student work.
• Maintain communication with your direct report (e.g., program director or counseling curriculum director) regarding any course or student issues.
• Engage in self-evaluation and post-course review of student feedback, structured per the direct report for this course.
• Teaching may include days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

Qualifications

To be considered for all Adjunct Creative Arts Therapy Faculty positions, you must meet the following requirements:

• Minimum of a Master’s Degree
• Progressive experience in education and practice
• Demonstrated competence with required knowledge and skill of assigned content area
• Strong interpersonal skills and positive energy regarding professional education and the role of Creative Arts Therapy Educator
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with other faculty members, as well as students
• Excellent verbal, written, and electronic communication skills
• Ability to perform the requirements of the job description
• Basic computer skills including: sending/receiving email; researching topics via the web; attaching, sending, and opening documents; participation in online chats; function in library databases, DrexelOne (BannerWeb) system, and Blackboard software

Additional requirements for specific areas:

• Art Therapy and Counseling Faculty: ATR-BC, PA LPC or other state licensure
• Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling Faculty: BC-DMT, PA LPC or other state licensure
• Music Therapy and Counseling Faculty: MT-BC, PA LPC or other state licensure
• Clinical Supervision:
  • PA state licensure or other state equivalent
  • Current certification in CPR
  • Current immunizations as required
  • PA Department of Public Welfare Child Abuse clearance; PA State Police Criminal Background clearance; FBI fingerprinting clearance

Supplemental Information

As a requirement of employment, you must complete the following pre-class activities:

• Complete orientation with the program director or coordinator (~2 hours)
• For online courses, complete the Essentials of Online Learning Course offered by the CNHP (a six-week module)
• Complete required orientation to course content technology (Blackboard) (~2 hours)
• Complete periodic examination of course with your direct report in the department
