About the role
The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) seeks dynamic, motivated, and diverse candidates for part-time African American Studies Instructor positions for the 2027 Academic School Year. This posting aims to create a pool of qualified applicants for future openings at LACCD's nine colleges.
Responsibilities
- Teach any of the African American Studies classes offered, fostering engaging and inclusive educational environments that support student learning.
- Collaborate, communicate, and work professionally with students, staff, faculty, and community members from diverse backgrounds.
- Engage in culturally responsive interactions with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Requirements
- Master's degree in African-American/Black/Africana Studies, or
- Bachelor's degree in African-American/Black/Africana Studies and a Master's degree in Ethnic Studies, or
- The equivalent.
A sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students is preferred.
Qualifications
- Health: A medical certificate indicating fitness to instruct or associate with students is required at the applicant's expense after selection from an eligible list and prior to employment.
- Pursuant to LACCD Board of Trustee's Policy 2900, all students and employees must be fully vaccinated.

Pay
$89.72 per standard hour, plus an office hour differential of $20.99 per hour for classroom assignments. Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential.
